In Joe's honor we will be continuing to provide reports to the Stake Holder Community who have become regular visitors to the "At The Oak" site fishing report. I hope that I can do at least half as good of a job as Joe did at providing valuable and concise information to all the visitors. If you have fishing information that you would like included please send it to reelxite@rochester.rr.com. I will do my best to include your valuable info in the report if it is received in a timely manner.
Please direct any questions me at reelxite@rochester.rr.com. I will do my best to provide an answer since I will be responsible for the site content.

Charters out today were Reel Excitement, Sunrise II, Bucaroo, Bag Lady and Rally Killer. It was not a fantastic day, but it was not bad either. As the day went on the picture improved and so did the fishing. Most got a mixed bag of Lakers, Steelhead and a few Kings. The rigger depths ranged from 50' to 100' down and divers worked from 160' to 240'. The lures mentioned on the riggers most were DW Frogs, Trannies and Gators along with the Gold 42 Second spoon. Divers were firing with Stingray Circus Freaks, Death Wish Spin Doctors with both A-tom-mik and Sigg's Mirages and White on White Spin Doctors with A-tom-mik Ultra Green Glows. The best area was from the Wall to the Glass House in 100 to 120 foot of water. Good luck to everyone this weekend and have a great 4th of July holiday.

The fishing was tough all around Tuesday, but the word is that there is bait and fish anywhere from 60 to 200 fow, they just had lock jaw. There was one bright spot though, Bucaroo slipped in to 60 - 65 fow later in the day and had some success with steelies on a high out and down. He never did mention how deep it was, but the lure is a new DW Gold Cup Green Goby. Chas also had some success on a 42/42 (42 second Spin Doctor/42 second fly) on a wire diver out 120' at 2½.
Today's Report...Bucaroo fished today. Capt. Chas said that the picture is very good, but the bite is still a little slow for what he is seeing. When it does turn on, it should be fantastic! His best lures where the same DW Green Goby as yesterday, along with the SS frog and DW frog on the riggers. The divers were working with the 42/42 and a Kevorkian Spin Doctor with a Green Hypnotist fly. His action was from 75 to 85 feet of water from the wall to the flats as it should be this time of the year.

We gave it our best shot in Whitby but fell short, but we did have a great time. Whitby is a very impressive harbor...one thing I have observed over the years is that Canada takes a lot of pride in their waterfront. The marina we stayed at was a city of Whitby run marina, it had great facilities and very pleasant people to deal with, and it was secure and well maintained. We will definitely go back if they have the same event next year. Maybe some day our side will care about our waterfront as much.
From what I heard, the fishing at the Oak was tough this past weekend and the only report I got was from Capt. Bill on Triple-Threat. He fished on Sunday 100 to 300 fow and ended up with some good steelies and kings biggest about 12 pounds. All the bites were on riggers, the kings came down 90' and steelies down 50'. Usual spoons, DW SS firecrackers and frogs did all the damage. We will be posting more frequent reports since the most of the Captains should be running more in the coming weeks.

The word is that there are fish and bait in the 60' - 80' range both east and west. To me it looks like typical early summer conditions. I would expect to start seeing the browns move in on the bait with the kings not far behind.
I will not be here this weekend. Tomorrow I am heading up to Whitby Canada with Joe Toomey to fish the King of the Lake/Scotty Tournament. I will update the report on fishing up there and what ever happens over the weekend "at the oak" when I return.
Good luck to everyone this weekend. I am sure it will be great.

Sunday's Report...Troutman had a fair day in 60 fow a little east on Steelies and Lake Trout. His hot baits were JFR jointed rapalas 150 feet back on yellow birds and Elmer on the bottom with a slow troll. He says he will be fishing Monday, so we will hope for more good news.
Today's Report...Bucaroo fished today from the wall to the bluffs in 60 - 90 foot of water and he had a very good day. Surface temp was 59 degrees and they were still taking big steelhead off the surface on DW SS Firecrackers and Pirate 5 of Diamonds with 2 shots on them. The riggers were working well with DW Water Melons, Grape pickers and Trannies in the SS size from 20' to 70'. Divers at 140' with the Gator Spin Doctor and Sigg's Blue Dolphin and 42 Second Spin Doctor and 42 Second fly.

It was a damp and dreary day and the only real report I got was from Sunrise II. He said that he finally found a good pocket of fish at 29N and 10W and was having a good bite when the weather finally drove him and his crew off the lake. Fishing should be fun...when you are fighting fish in a down pour with no end in sight (we do have radar and weather reports on our cell phones) it is time to head in. So lets hope the better weather this week gets things moving in the right direction.

Well, there is very little good news to pass along. Charters out were Reel Excitement, Sunrise II, Bucaroo and Lure-Um. They fished anywhere from 60 fow to the 31 north line with catches ranging from 2 - 4 fish. The lures mentioned that had the best results were DW SS Fire Crackers with 2 shot off the boards and DW SS Diehards down 20' and 30'. The combination of the mid June transition and the hard NE winds just a few days ago has the lake in a very unstable condition. Hopefully things will start to look up over the next few days with some more settled weather around the corner.

Just to let everyone know, I believe no one has been fishing since the Pro/Am since I have not received any reports. But I do know that Bucaroo tried to fish today, but the conditions were unfishable...heavy NE winds with waves to 8 feet was the report and also the lake has flipped. There are a number of us going out tomorrow including Sunrise II, Bucaroo and myself, hopefully we will have some good new to pass along.

We are getting ready for the Orleans Pro/Am and at this time have heard very little on the positive side. Fishing for most has been slow with a few lucky anglers having decent catches, but the fish are on the move and not staying in one spot very long. Typical for the June transition, one day you can do well in a spot and the next day the fish will be gone and you catch nothing in that same spot. The water temps do not provide for good fishing structure right now, allot of mid 50 degree water out there allows the fish to be anywhere.
